Tulsi Gabbard
Director of National Intelligence
Tulsi Gabbard was born in April 1981 in Leloaloa, American Samoa. She attended Leeward Community College and later earned a bachelor of science from Hawaiian Pacific University. She joined the Hawaii Army National Guard, serving in the Army’s medical unit. Gabbard deployed to Iraq and then completed officer training. She was deployed to Kuwait as a military police officer. She still served in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Gabbard was elected to the House of Representatives and served on the House Armed Services Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee. She later served on the Subcommittee on Intelligence.
Gabbard campaigned for president in 2020, eventually withdrawing and supporting Joe Biden. She changed her party affiliation to independent in 2022, then shifted to Republican in 2024 and endorsed President Donald Trump during his second reelection campaign.
President Trump nominated her as the Director of National Intelligence in November 2024. The Senate confirmed her in late January 2025, and she assumed office in February.
Gabbard is married to Abraham Williams. She was previously married to Eduardo Tamayo. She is Hindu.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard sent a criminal referral to the Department of Justice alleging that former President Barack Obama and members of his administration manufactured the intelligence document that created the story that Russia attempted to interfere in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. She also declassified documents that were created to promote the idea that President Trump’s campaign was in collusion with the Russian government to influence the election’s outcome.
DNI Gabbard said in an interview, “President Obama delivered the conclusion that he wanted the intelligence community to reach, and directed them to find and essentially create and manufacture the intelligence to support the conclusion that he wanted to deliver to the American people.”
“There’s no question in my mind that this intelligence community assessment that President Obama ordered be published which contained a manufactured intelligence document — it’s worse than even politicization of intelligence,” Director Gabbard stated, “It was manufactured intelligence that sought to achieve President Obama and his team’s objective, which was undermining President Trump’s presidency and subverting the will of the American people.”
DNI Gabbard wrote on social media, “Their goal was to usurp President Trump and subvert the will of the American people. No matter how powerful, every person involved in this conspiracy must be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. The integrity of our democratic republic depends on it. We are turning over all documents to the DOJ for criminal referral.”
“Over 100 documents that we released… really detail and provide evidence of how this treasonous conspiracy was directed by President Obama just weeks before he was due to leave office after President Trump had already gotten elected,” she continued. “This is not a Democrat or Republican issue. This is an issue that is so serious it should concern every single American because it has to do with the integrity of our democratic republic.”
